South Australia was the first state in Australia to launch a comprehensive plan for the development of its unconventional gas projects.

The Roadmap for Unconventional Gas Projects in SA lays out the key priorities that require action to ensure we stay ahead of the game in developing the state's unconventional gas resources.

It encourages safe exploration and production of unconventional gas under this State's robust and effective regulatory framework, the Petroleum and Geothermal Energy Act 2000.

Collectively, the Roadmap's 125 recommendations cover the full life cycle of unconventional gas projects - from exploration to production and possible liquefied natural gas exports.

Even in its infancy the unconventional gas sector has the potential to deliver hundreds of millions, if not billions, of investment dollars to the state, and provide a new lease of life to the Cooper Basin in particular.

It's about collaborating with community and business about the benefits of unconventional gas to South Australia.
